History of The SEC's biggest rivalries
SEC football News, info and facts/saban and bama bashing

The Iron Bowl!!
The Alabama and Auburn football programs were less than a year old when the schools staged the first game of what was to become the most intense intrastate college rivalry in the nation.
In a state that has had a century-old love affair with college football, this one, 60 minutes of football determines bragging rights in Alabama for the next 364 days. The losers have only "next year" to cling to because the scores of other games during the season really do not matter.
The 2 teams started the rivalry in 1893 and Auburn won the first 2 and then after the 1907 with Auburn winning 7 of the 11 games played and 1 tie, the game game was suspended for 40 years!
The series started back in 1948 with The Tide winning by it's biggest margin to date 55-0 and the game was played at legion field which held every game between the 2 schools, Then came '89, perhaps the proudest moment in the series for Auburn fans and perhaps one of the most disappointing moments for Alabama fans. After years of haggling, Auburn finally demanded its home games in the series be played in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Yet the Tigers, who finished 10-2 that season and won its third straight SEC title, had to face an unbeaten Alabama team. The town was awash in blue and orange and the Tigers won, 30-20. Ever since the series had been played on a level playing field with it now being a home and home series.

Alabama leads the series, 38-32-1.  At Auburn AU leads, 6-2, at Tuscaloosa AU leads, 6-0. At neutral sites UA leads, 30-19-1, at Birmingham UA leads, 28-17-1 , at Montgomery, AL Tied, 2-2.

Longest winning streaks: Alabama 9(1973-1981)   Auburn 6(2002-current)

The deep south's oldest rivalry!!

Auburn vs. Georgia

The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is between Auburn and Georgia. It began Feb. 20, 1892 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta and has been played virtually every year since. Although Georgia did compete against Mercer a few weeks prior to their match-up with Auburn, the Auburn-Georgia game that year is largely considered the first real college football game to have been competed in the Deep South.
he Auburn-Georgia series is older than, and has been competed more times than either the Georgia-Georgia Tech series or the Auburn-Alabama series. Nationwide, the series is tied with Oregon-Oregon State and Baylor-TCU as the seventh-most played series in the nation. It is the lone Southern series and one of just 11 in the nation to have reached the century mark in games played. Just in case you were wondering who had the longest running rivalries, Minnesota-Wisconsin has played 6 more times than Auburn-Georgia; Missouri-Kansas has played 5 more; Nebraska-Kansas and Texas-Texas A&M have each played 3 more times; and Miami(OH)-Cincinnati and North Carolina-Virginia both have played once more.

Auburn holds an 18-9 advantage in games played in Athens, and an overall lead in the series 53-49-8. With the exception of the years spent in war, these two teams have played every year since 1898. In 110 games in the series, Georgia has outscored Auburn by only 20 points in the entire series.

STREAKS:  Georgia 9(twice)    Auburn 6 (1953-1958)

This series also had one of the strangest scores I have ever seen!!!! UGA Won 4-0 in 1906!
